The average person releases 4 whole metric tons of carbon annually. Imagine how much that is times 7 billion people! The following site gives us a list of things we can do to decreaseour carbon emissions. http://www.carbonfootprint.com/minimisecfp.html
You can do a lot of stuff to save energy and one of them is to always turn of lights when leaving rooms, and use the energy-saver lights :) This year, Environmental Pioneers is going to try making IC a green school, and one of the points/ideas is to encourage students to turn off lights and to put other kinds of lamps :) Save energy! A person can do many simple things to decrease carbon emmisions. Personally, most of my house's lights are energy saving. Also, I only use the AC when its really warm, however usually I preffer the wind breeze and open my windows. When I want to go to a certain place in the city and that's not far away I walk.(especially that in the city there is traffic and using the car in traffic will lead to even more carbon emissions). When going by car, I always adress the drivers by decreasing the car's load to decrease carbon emissions. Each one of us can decrease carbon emisions in doing really simple things.Combining trips in a one trip can also decrease carbon emmisions. We should also try to go organic and by doing that we would be helping ourselves and helping nature. We would be encouraging planting trees thus decreasing carbon emission. Hiba Siblini :)
We can do a lot to save the enviroment, and the ideas that the pioneers are going realise to make IC a greener school can also be done at home to make Lebanon greener.
I personally do care about the environment a lot, but I must admit that when it comes to this topic, I do not save much. I am used to turning off my TV right after my show is off, and I make sure my computer is turned off when no one is using it, but that’s what most people do. Though I did just read an article about ways people can save there energy, and how they save money in doing so. If people turn down their thermostat by two degrees, they save 2,000 pounds of CO2 emissions (F). Imagine how much energy would be saved if every family just lowered their temperature by one degree Fahrenheit.
